SCRIPTURE:
“Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
2 Peter 1:10-11
OBSERVATION:
Some people take the position that being saved is all that is needed to live with Jesus eternally, and therefore fail to live the rich life of walking with Jesus, knowing who they are in Christ, and their divine purpose. Praise God that they are saved; but the Word is clearly stated by Peter that we are called to a divine purpose, and we are also called to respond and be affirmed to the purpose (election). Not if, but when we do that, our work will be led by the Holy Spirit here on earth; and we get to look forward to with the anticipation and excitement of knowing that a rich welcome awaits us before Jesus Christ in the eternal kingdom. The Bible also calls this the Bema Seat, the judgement seat of Christ, where we will stand before Christ as our faithfulness will be reviewed, and precede bestowing of our rewards (2 Corinthians 5:10, Romans 14:10-12).
APPLICATION:
How exciting to know that my faithfulness in my relationship with Jesus, and following and acting on my “calling,” is my assignment while here on earth. Furthermore, to know that in Jesus’ reasoning, He will want to review and reward me for my obedience and serving in His plan and purpose for my life. There is a reason to my season, and a goal which stirs me to “go” in my calling.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, thank you for the affirmation of what receiving you as Lord and Savior, being called to my identity in Christ, knowing the calling on my life, and following through with my calling and serving you in my divine purpose is your plan and purpose for me. Thank you for your desire to celebrate and reward my answering you in my calling and divine purpose before the Bema Seat.
