My Allegiance Is to Jesus

SCRIPTURE:

7 Therefore, as soon as they heard the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, and all kinds of music, all the nations and peoples of every language fell down and worshiped the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace.

Daniel 3: 7,19-20

 

OBSERVATION:

At the sound of music, the nations bowed to the golden image. The sound became their signal to surrender their worship, showing how easily people can be swayed when culture sets the rhythm. But Daniel’s friends would not bend, even though everyone else did. They refused to let the sound of pressure, fear, or conformity dictate their worship. This set King Nebuchadnezzar off, and his attitude changed towards them so much that he called for back and increased the heat of their punishment. 

APPLICATION:

I think about what the sound of music that will  play behind me when idols come creeping in. Whether idols of pride, success, money, comfort, people and etc. Will I catch my knees bowing or will I stand my allegiance to King Jesus? 
This weekend we celebrate 31 years of Gods faithfulness to New Hope Oahu. I’m thankful for the leaders who went before us who knees didn’t bent to compromise the gospel but who stood before God! I am so thankful for the 19years God has led me with New Hope Oahu. I’m glad that when the world music was sounding off, I decided to choose Jesus. In my life, I have a desire to not fall to sound of worldly  idols or success but to be committed to Jesus! 

PRAYER:

Heavenly  father thank you so much for your faithfulness. Thank you for your Holy Spirit that resides in me because it makes me strong to stand for you. Lord keep me clear of any idols that creep up. I pray for discernment to activate quickly when I’m wanting to bow down to them. Lord, keep me humble and keep me safe. Amen

Pastor Pua-kiele Palakiko has been with New Hope Oahu since 2007. In the summer of 2008 during a youth camp, God called her  into Full Time Ministry and Pua began serving as a Youth Leader in the Youth Ministry. She is now on staff as the Equipping Pastor, overseeing leaders of our  Youth + Young Adults Ministries and our Children’s Ark Ministry. She oversees our Emerge Internship and has the honor to train, build and equip future church leaders. She is also a gifted speaker and worship leader.
