Stay Connected

SCRIPTURE:

“Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind. They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.”

Colossians 2:18-19

OBSERVATION:

Paul speaks on the difference between false teachings and beliefs, as opposed to truth. When man begins to shift away from The Word and more towards The World, that is dangerous ground to be on. When our connection to Christ is lost, soon we too become lost.

APPLICATION:

Staying connected to Christ is of the utmost importance for our daily walk. It’s not something you can fake or manufacture, either you are or you aren’t. If you are really good at it, you may be able to fake it for a bit, but it will begin to show after a while.

When the connection to Christ starts to fade, it is very subtle. You miss a day or two of doing your devotions, you skip going to your small group, you don’t pray as much and you begin to drift. I’ve done it before. Instead of seeking out answers from The Lord, you begin seeking them out everywhere else. Truth gets blurred and you start to drift further and further away. Soon it’s like you are being tossed about in the ocean of life, lost amongst the waves.

The solution is right in front of us, but we often miss it – Reach out to The Lord. Get reconnected to Him and to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

One of the first questions I ask someone who is struggling is how their relationship with God is going. You can tell pretty quickly if that connection is lost or not. My answer for their struggle is to reach out and get reconnected – To God and community.

When life gets tough, I need to remember to reach out to The Lord. To get reconnected to Him and to those He has placed in my life.

PRAYER:

Father Almighty. Forgive me Lord for times when I thought I could do it all alone without You. Thank You Lord that You are never too far. May I stay connected to You and those you have put in my life, this I pray, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
