Earnestly Seek Him

SCRIPTURE:

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

Hebrews 11:6

OBSERVATION:

The author makes it clear – it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God if you do not have faith in Him. It doesn’t read that God may be frustrated, put off or annoyed if you lack faith. It says that it will be impossible to please Him. As a believer, we MUST believe in His existence and that He will reward those who seek Him with all of their hearts (Jeremiah 29:13).

APPLICATION:

If we believe for the things that we know we will get, then there is no need for faith. Faith comes in when we don’t know if it will happen and can’t see anything happening, yet will trust that God will come through for us.

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” – Hebrews 11:1

There’s a requirement of those who put their trust and faith in God that we find in Hebrews 11:6 and it’s this:

  1. Believe that He exists
  2. Believe that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him

It’s easy to gloss over this thinking, “I just gotta have faith and it will happen!” Sure, I believe if that’s what God wants us to do, then it will happen, but I believe there’s a part we need to play and we find it in #2 above – He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. My part? In addition to my faith, I MUST earnestly seek Him.

While I must have faith in God, I need to ensure that my daily life is geared towards earnestly seeking Him.

PRAYER:

Father Almighty. Forgive me Lord for times when I have sat idly by and just expected things to happen. Thank You for reminding me of the part that I need to play, that I need to seek You out. May I have faith, put my trust in You and seek You out daily, this I pray, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
