Look to Life

SCRIPTURE:

While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel.  And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?
Luke 24:4-5

OBSERVATION:

The stone is rolled away.  The tomb is empty.  Jesus has risen, and the word spoken by the angels are simple but say so much, “Why do you seek the living among the dead.”  Jesus is alive. Death couldn’t hold Him down.

APPLICATION:

How often do I go looking for God in the wrong places? Or more exact, how often am I blind to God in the places I least expect or don’t expect Him?  For me there are couple places where I know I’ll meet God:

In my devotion to Him, reading His word and hearing His promptings.

Singing praise and worship to Him as He inhabits the praises of His people.

At church.  It’s His house, He built it, He’s present.

Yet how many opportunities do I miss each day?  How often do I see moments as “dead” instead of alive and springing with possibilities?  Jesus is alive and He lives in His people. If I’m to seek among the living it means I will:

Seek Jesus in all things.  Yes, that’s pretty broad but it needs to be true in my heart.

Seek Jesus is in that “dead” moment at the end of the month when finances are low and the car needs gas.  My God is Jehovah Jireh and can provide.

Know and trust that He is in that “dead” moment when the kids are sick and I can’t help them.  My God is Jehovah Rapha and can heal.

Know that He is in that dead moment when Christians collide and sides are drawn, My God is Jehovah Nissi and reigns over all and covers all.

I need to look to life, not death.  My God is alive.

As I tune my heart and mind up to see Him in everything, to see life in all things, I can joyfully approach each moment, each situation knowing that Jesus is alive and well and more than able to handle it all.

PRAYER:

Thank God Jesus is alive!  I pray for the devotion to seek and know especially in the moments where things seem dead and hopeless.  Thank you Jesus that hope is alive.  Amen
