SCRIPTURE:
“For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.”
John 5:21-23
OBSERVATION:
These scriptures established the power and authority given exclusively to Jesus from our Heavenly Father to give life, raise the dead, and pronounce judgement therein. Thus, if all power and authority has been given to Jesus, than He has the authority to pass it forward in those who receive Him, trust, and believe in Him. Thus, honoring the Jesus, honors the Father, and becomes the way and means that we can live in the power and authority in the name of Jesus.
APPLICATION:
This is important to know that our power and authority in our prayers and faith is our belief and trust in the power and name of Jesus. The Father has sent the Holy Spirit until Jesus’ return to lead, guide, teach, and help us; but it all is still in the power, authority, and name of Jesus. Thus, the guidance comes from the Holy Spirit but must be in the power and authority of Jesus Christ. The book of John begins with “In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He (Jesus) was in the beginning with God.” All this to say that we have been given Jesus who encompasses all that He is in God’s Word, what He did on the cross, and the authority of the Father, that we would walk with Him, guided by the Holy Spirit, and in His power and authority. This is how we roll! This is how we walk. This is how we live. This is why we have power and authority.
PRAYER:
Dear Jesus, I am grateful for the clear understanding of our Heavenly Father in His supreme authority and power, passed on to you Jesus, and made available to us to live life and walk in your authority and power to become who we are called to be, live and how we are called to live, testify of who you are, and serve you with all of our hearts.
