Trust In The Name Of The Lord

SCRIPTURE:

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

Psalm 20:7

OBSERVATION:

The Psalmist knew what the world trusted in – Things that are made, material possessions and the strength of man.  However, Kingdom Citizens trust in The Lord.

APPLICATION:

When I was a much younger person, I would often trust in myself.  I went with what I felt, thought and knew.  I would trust in those around me that I thought would be able to help me.  Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t.

Years later, after giving my life to Jesus, that all changed.  It didn’t happen all at once, but through circumstances and challenges, I found that trusting in the created over the Creator was a losing battle every single time.

An opportunity arose where I was at and an offer was made.  Promises of position, power and prosperity.  On the surface it looked like a no-brainer.  I paused and replied “I need to pray about it.”  I’ll never forget the look of confusion and disappointment on the individual’s face.  The response was this:

“Pray about it?  Pray about what?  What do you have to pray about?  Do you understand what you are being offered?”

I stood my ground and said I would need to pray about it.  I left that organization soon thereafter.  I’ll never truly know what could have or would have been, but I know one thing for certain.  It could have very well steered me away from walking in what God called me to do.

As Kingdom Citizens, we operate differently.  We don’t trust in things of the world, we trust in the name of the Lord.

PRAYER:

Father Almighty.  Forgive me Lord for times when I have trusted in the world instead of You.  Thank You Lord for continuing to speak and teach.  May I trust in You in all that I do, this I pray, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
