Mother’s Day

SCRIPTURE:

“When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, In God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me?”

Psalm 56:3–4

OBSERVATION:

David doesn’t pretend he’s not afraid. He simply chooses what to do when fear shows up. He brings it to God.
That feels especially meaningful on Mother’s Day. Motherhood—biological, step, or spiritual—comes with a tender kind of concern. We carry people in our hearts. We pray for them, worry about them, hope for them, and sometimes ache for them. God sees that kind of love, even when it’s quiet and unseen.

APPLICATION:

Mothering isn’t defined only by biology. Some of us are stepmothers. Some are spiritual mothers—pouring into others, praying, encouraging, discipling, and loving people God has entrusted to us.
If you’ve ever stayed up praying for someone who isn’t technically “yours,” if you’ve spoken truth, shown grace, or stood in faith for another person—that is motherhood.
When fear tries to creep in—about the people we love or the impact we’re making—we choose trust. We place them back into God’s hands, knowing He loves them even more than we do.

PRAYER:

Lord, thank You for every kind of mother represented today.
For biological moms, stepmoms, spiritual moms, and women who nurture and care with Your heart.
When fear rises, help us choose trust.
Remind us that You see every prayer, every sacrifice, and every act of love that no one else notices.
We place those we love in Your hands today, confident that You are faithful.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
