It’s Not What is Said, But Also What is Seen

SCRIPTURE:

They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.”

Titus 1:16

OBSERVATION:

Paul was warning Titus about false teachers and to be careful in what they hear and believe by the “rebellious” people at the time who were insisting on Jewish traditions for salvation. In earlier scriptures, Paul cited their deceit and motivation for dishonest gain, and of which their teaching was bringing confusion, chaos, and division.

APPLICATION:

Paul’s warning is just as applicable for us today with so many “religious” people preaching doctrine and theology; some of which are not aligned with the Word of God but instead misinterpreted, taken out of context, or added to. Some of these teachers and teachings are based on the “supernatural,” reformation (reformed doctrine), and misinterpretation of God’s Word that is taken and taught with hyper-emotion. This is why the study of God’s Word is so important. Study enables us to know and understand God’s Word so that we can see and discern the true fruit and truth of teaching and preaching. We will also be able to see the fruit of those the purport to follow in their doctrine, theology, and teaching. Does what they say and do align with what God’s Word says? Do they walk out God’s Word in their actions. Do we at any time sense – self, pride, focus on money, position, stature, and notoriety?

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, it is such an honor and privilege to be called to teach and preach your Word. Lord, may I always do my study and diligence to be aligned with your Word and your doctrine and theology therein. May I not add to it, embellish it, or take it out of context. More so, may I be a messenger and not put myself in a place of recognition or position over Jesus, and His good news.
