SCRIPTURE:
Proverbs 15:13,15
OBSERVATION:
These 2 verses point out how our internal emotional state affects everything around us. A joyful heart not only brings a smile but also sustains a person, even in hard times. Meanwhile, a heart weighed down with sorrow or bitterness can crush a person’s spirit and make even good days feel dark. Joy doesn’t always come from perfect circumstances; it often flows from a heart that trusts God no matter what.
APPLICATION:
Some days are hard, and joy can feel out of reach. But Proverbs remind me that my attitude matters. Even in difficulty, I can choose joy by focusing on God’s presence, His promises, and His faithfulness. It doesn’t mean to bottle up my feelings or mask what I am going through, but it’s so I don’t have to let heartache steal everything. When my heart is rooted in God, I can live with a joy that lasts longer than any bad day. Today, I’ll choose to feed my soul with truth and gratitude, and let that joy overflow.
PRAYER:
Lord, help me to have a joyful heart even when things aren’t easy. Remind me that true joy comes from You, not my circumstances. Lift my spirit when I feel heavy, and teach me to find reasons to be thankful every day. Let my life reflect the peace and gladness that come from walking with You. Amen.
