YOU are a Witness!

SCRIPTURE:

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 1:8

OBSERVATION:

If Jesus is Emmanuel, “God with Us,” the Holy Spirit is “God still with us.”

God is still with us––and with you––through the power of the Holy Spirit.  From the moment you received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit entered into you, and whether you have realized it or not, you have become a temple in which the Holy Spirit resides.  The Holy Spirit is our comforter, healer, advocate, and guide.  He has given you a new heart and empowers you to do supernatural works.  Most importantly, through the Holy Spirit, you have a direct line to God; through the Spirit, God speaks directly to you, and you can speak directly to Him.  And because the Spirit is living in you, you are never alone.  Through every season of life, God has not only promised to never leave you nor forsake you; He has fulfilled His promise by giving you the gift of the Spirit.

As a recipient, beneficiary, and temple of the Holy Spirit, you have received power from God Himself.  This power exists so that you can be a witness for Christ––someone who tells of the goodness of God with and through their life.  Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave His followers a power and a task.  And as a Christian today, you are a recipient of that same power and that same task: to be a witness for Him to the ends of the earth, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

APPLICATION:

You are a witness, and God has given you an assignment.  YOU!  Yes, you have been given a personal assignment by God that only you can complete.  And on top of that, God didn’t just give you an assignment; He has given you all you need to complete that assignment.  He has given you the Holy Spirit to empower you to be a witness.

On first glance, being a witness can sound like an intimidating task.  Yet, as daunting as it may seem, God has fully equipped you to do it.  To some, being a witness might look like getting up in front of a crowd to preach a message with fervor.  To others, being a witness might look like serving in the shadows without saying a word.  Being a witness is not something that is done solely at a pulpit; being a witness is something you do with the way you live.  The greatest message you will ever give is not one preached from a pulpit; the greatest message you will ever give is one preached through your life.

Who is God to you?  What has He done in Your life?  Why have you given your life to Him, and why do you continue to follow Him?  Today, be a witness. Answer these questions through your words, your actions, and your life, and be the love of Christ to those around you.  You are a witness, empowered by the Holy Spirit to point people to Christ.  God has a mission for you to complete today.  Do you accept it?

PRAYER:

God,
Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. I receive Your gift, and I receive the mission You have for me. Empower me with boldness, courage, and faithfulness to be a witness through the testimony of my life. Use me for Your glory.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen
