Where is your faith?

Scripture

He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him?” (Luke 8:25)

Observation

As Jesus naps, he is awaken by the terror of the disciples voices of the windstorm. Not only Jesus awakes to rebukes the wind but also the  disciples saying, “where is your faith?”

Is it what they saw hindered their faith? He had some expert fisherman on board and yet they were fearful of what was happening.

Application

I always think of this story when faced with great storms or when faced windy seasons in Hawaii. (No Joke! I do try to calm the wind like Jesus. Isn’t that what we’re supposed to do?) But I always ponder on this verse because I think “at least they went to Jesus.” Right?

It was a great reminder that Jesus is lord over everything. The more time I spend with Jesus the more it becomes the reflection of my faith.  The song lyrics that come to me goes like this “the closer I get to you, the more you make me see.”  It’s the same thing with my faith. The Disciples flinch in their faith because they misunderstood the presence of Jesus is an anchor to our storms.  I know that when I am faced with tough things even though God is with me it doesn’t mean storms won’t  hit believers but when it does where is my faith?Jesus has to become the steady anchor to my faith.

Prayer

Lord, I look to you in every face of the story. But I know that the closer I am to you the safer I feel. Lord, let me not forget who are you in my life when things get shaken up. Help me to trust in you when things feels unsettle. Where is my faith? It is steady in the anchor of your presence.
