What Will You Do With Jesus?

by Paul Brown on October 29, 2026

SCRIPTURE:

41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

Mark 4:41

OBSERVATION:

Jesus’ disciples were beginning to ask the right questions. Who is this Jesus? Is he just a good teacher? Is He a prophet? Is he a powerful healer? A great debater? Or is he God?

Peter was the first to say it. He said “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." The King has arrived. The question now is will they follow? He is all knowing, all powerful, and omnipresent, however will they follow?

The disciples were confronted with a decision, would they follow. One person said, “obedience isn’t agreement. Agreement is when you want to do what is asked of you. Obedience is doing what is asked of you even when you don’t want to do it.” Jesus is who he says he is. Will we follow?

APPLICATION:

There is warmth in knowing that Jesus Christ is King. There is no debate he cannot win. There is no sick person he cannot heal. There is no storm he cannot calm. However, he didn’t come to display his majesty, instead he came to display his obedience.

What will I do with Jesus? I will follow Him in obedience. Before there is a crown, there is a cross. I will be like my savior, general, friend, and king, and pick up my cross and follow Him. Christ is inviting me into a deeper fellowship through obedience.

Therefore, I will go as he has gone. I will run, fight, and keep the faith. Jesus Christ could have come to destroy the earth and display his power. No, he came as a sheep before the slaughter. He came as the suffering servant. He came as a sacrifice. He didn’t take, he gave. He is inviting me not to what is common, but what is uncommon. I will obey him.

PRAYER:

Lord would you help me fight the right fight. Because I know the fight is not against flesh and blood. Thank you, Lord, for showing me an example of what a loving King does. You are the lion and the lamb. Amen.
