“And the twenty-four elders, who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying: ‘We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign. The nations were angry, and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your people who revere your name, both great and small - and for destroying those who destroy the earth.’ ” (Revelation 11:16-18)
It’s inspirationally awakening to learn what lies ahead when the Lord Jesus Christ returns to reign in His power and glory. Yet, it is also a sober warning as to what awaits those who do not know the Lord Jesus Christ, or have turned from Him and lived in the ways of the world. It’s so promising to know that rewards await to prophets and we who revere the name of Jesus and His return.
I can only imagine the wrath that awaits those who have turned from or against the Lord. If we think that our current trials and tribulations in these pandemic and challenging times are tough, what awaits those who do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior is unimaginable in judgement and wrath. On this Labor Day, may we labor to know and serve our Lord Jesus Christ in these “last days,” and may we not be fearful, but instead be fervent for Christ and following in His will and ways.
Dear Lord, I believe that your return is near. Thank you for your word and warning of what is to come and what our assignment is to prepare for your return and reign. May I stay focused on your call, my assignment, and in obedience to your Word and will.
