Scripture
"Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, or everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God." (1 John 5:1-5)
Observation
These scriptures in these times in our communities, nation, and the world, is such an encouragement of truth that no matter what we may face in life; that our belief in Jesus, our love for God our Father, and our obedience, will enable us to be overcomers. As overcomers, we will overcome adversity, challenges, and plans by the adversary.
Application
It seems that prior to big events to present and glorify the Lord Jesus at New Hope O’ahu; the enemy has always tried to detract or destroy our plans and endeavors. It can be leaders and volunteers coming down with health issues, work conflicts, disagreements, and even technical challenges. However, even in the midst of these situations, the ability to keep our eyes focused on Jesus, praying for His covering and the moving of the Holy Spirit; have always enabled the presentation and event to excel for the Lord’s plan, will, and victory. This year, our Christmas services were no different. The enemy tried to wreak his havoc in many ways. However, Jesus prevailed through our standing on His truth, promises, and perseverance to our assignments; and the services were stellar, celebratory, and honoring to the birth of our Lord and Savior.
Prayer
Thank you Father. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Holy Spirit. We are indeed overcomers as we keep our eyes and love set on you in obedience.
