SCRIPTURE:
3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:3–6
OBSERVATION:
Paul explains that the gospel itself is not hidden or unclear; rather, it is veiled to those who are perishing. This blindness is caused by Satan, referred to as “the god of this age,” who actively blinds the minds of unbelievers. His goal is to prevent them from seeing the light of the gospel, which reveals the glory of Christ. Christ is described as the image of God, showing His divine nature and His role in revealing the Father. The gospel is clear, but not everyone can perceive it because there is real spiritual resistance. Paul also reminds us that we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord. True understanding comes when God turns on the light in a person’s heart.
APPLICATION:
There’s nothing more startling than turning on the light and seeing roaches scatter everywhere. In the same way, when Jesus turns on the light in someone’s heart, the enemy begins to flee. This passage really spoke to me. Even though salvation is free and the gospel is openly preached, a hardened or unwilling heart can remain closed to the truth. This reminds me that evangelism is not just about sharing facts it is spiritual warfare. We must prepare in the secret place through prayer and fasting, asking God to remove the veil from people’s hearts. I think about the people in my own life family and friends who are either caught up in the pleasures of the world or who reject the idea of God.
As Easter approaches, I’m praying for every invitation that has gone out that this would be a time of harvest, where many come to know the Lord. I believe this can be a revival moment, where Jesus turns on the light in hearts that have been spiritually blind.
Encouragement to my heart:
• Evangelism is spiritual warfare
• Be patient and persistent in sharing
• Reflect Jesus daily in my life
PRAYER:
Lord, I pray for those whose eyes are still blinded to the truth. I lift up my family, friends, and neighbors that they would come to know Your love, Your peace, and Your truth. Remove every barrier that keeps them from seeing Your glory in Christ.
Help me to shine Your light and share Your Word with boldness and love. Thank You for revealing Yourself to me, may I never take Your truth for granted. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
