Time to Move On

SCRIPTURE:

“The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Break camp and advance into the hill country of the Amorites; go to all the neighboring peoples in the Arabah, in the mountains, in the western foothills, in the Negev and along the coast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the Euphrates. See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore he would give to your fathers – to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – and to their descendants after them.”
Deuteronomy 1:6-8

OBSERVATION:

Israel had been at Horeb for far too long and God said it was time to move on.  He had something much better in store for them, but in order to get there they had to get going.

APPLICATION:

There was a point in my life when I stepped away from serving, stepped away from ministry and stepped away from growing, If I’m being completely honest.  I was at my own Horeb and my spiritual life was stagnating.  I had gotten lazy and complacent after quite some time and it began to show.

Slowly but surely, the Lord began speaking to my heart through the Bible, Circumstances and Prayer.  I didn’t know where to begin, but knew I had to get around other believers who could help to get me back on track.  Wanting to get connected, I sent this simple four-word text message to some church leaders I knew:  “How can I serve?”

At the time, I didn’t quite understand what I was getting myself into.  It turned out to be one of the best decisions I had ever made, as it helped steer me back to where God was calling me.  Sometimes the most difficult step to take is the first one, especially when it’s a step out in faith, but great things can happen and God can release His blessings when we do.

PRAYER:

Father Almighty.  Forgive me Lord when I have stayed in place when You have clearly called me to move on.  Thank You Lord for brothers and sisters in Christ that You have placed in my life.  May I move when you call me to move and stay when You call me to stay, this I pray, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
