SCRIPTURE:
1 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore.
Romans 5:3-5
OBSERVATION:
“Those who trust in the Lord” is the prerequisite for those who cannot be shaken. In the world that we live in, everything seems to be shaking. In fact, anything that can be shaken will be shaken.
However, those whose trust is in the Lord cannot be shaken. “Trust” means to put one’s confidence and hope in something. If we put it in anything other than what is unshakeable, one is susceptible to being shaken.
APPLICATION:
I will put my trust in the unshakeable one. His name is Jesus, and those whose trust is in Him will not be disappointed. James 5:5 “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
Just as a mountain, Jesus Christ surrounds his people like the mountains around Jerusalem are immovable. Heaven and earth will pass away, but God’s words will never. We have only to hold on to Him, and victory is inevitable.
Now the question is, who or what do I trust? Do I trust in a preferred future or a person? Do I trust in an outcome or his plan? I will trust in God's plan and ways as I look forward to the culmination of His second coming when He wipes every tear away. I desire to live the unshakeable life.
PRAYER:
Lord would guide me to develop my trust in you. This is where hope, peace, and love all begin. It begins with a relationship with you. Would you deepen my relationship so that my feet are firmly planted on the only thing in the cosmos that cannot be shaken, namely, Jesus Christ? I love you, Lord. Thank you for loving me. Amen.
