SCRIPTURE:

"May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands."
Psalms 90:17

OBSERVATION:

After navigating the desert for years, bearing the complaints of the people as well as overcoming his own patience with God’s plan, Moses prays this prayer, reconfirming, recommitting, and reenlisting to God’s covenant.

APPLICATION:

It’s one thing to dream and then pray that the dream aligns to God’s will.  It’s another thing completely to pray that God releases a dream within me.  Strategy and projections are good, but only when taken to God first.  As the Psalm says, “ESTABLISH the work of our hands.”  That means the dream comes from Him, not my dream aligns to His.

So how do I make sure that my ambition never gets in the way of His actions:

  1. Stay close to Him in prayer.  I can’t just claim Matt. 6:33 as my life verse, I need to live it out in each and every moment.  If I seek Him first, in ALL things, then He is faithful to establish.
  2. Stay close to Him in the Word.  As I stay in His word I begin to think as He thinks and act as He acts.

PRAYER:

Jesus, may I forever see You as the source and reason for all I do.  May You be glorified in my life as I reconfirm, recommit and re-enlist to Your covenant.
Amen
