Scripture
“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. " (John 16: 13-14)
Observation
Jesus speaks to his disciples, the Holy Spirit is coming and they receive this promise through the death and resurrection of Jesus. There are 3 things that Jesus reveals about the Holy Spirit which he is a person. Therefore, since the Holy Spirit is a person, he desires a relationship because of his correlation with the Son and the Father. The Holy Spirit craves intimacy with us. Second is he spiritually guides us in all truth. He becomes the GPS of our hearts when faced in trial moments. Lastly, he speaks. When we recognize who he is and how he functions, we are open to listen to receive his promptings.
Application
There is no doubt the Holy Spirit wants to lead me. I know there have been moments in my life when I don’t have the patience to wait on his guidance, and I prematurely move or make a decision. I can make the mistake of treating the Holy Spirit as an emotion and not as a person whom God has sent to us. God's gift to us is the Holy Spirit because He desires to be involved in our life, there is an intimacy and proximity God wires to us through His Holy Spirit. I need to renew my heart again and again to obtain the Holy Spirit as a person just as much as I view Jesus. My action today is this
Holy Spirit is personal
Holy Spirit is our guide
Holy Spirit is voice of God
Prayer
Holy Spirit reveals all truth in my life so that I am led by you. Forgive me when you have guided and spoken to me and delayed acting on your words. Lead me lord, I need you.
