Taking The Fall for Love & Life

SCRIPTURE:

Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.  After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.”
Isaiah 53:10-11

OBSERVATION:

This Word is a reminder of what Jesus endured by the hands of His Father in suffering for our transgressions that we would have life.  We read through all the prior scriptures in the chapter of how Jesus suffered.  Yet, the Father’s love for His son, Jesus, is in His promise that they will be as one again and that goodness and prosperity will be realized; and then He will continue to be an example of sacrifice that would triumph in victory for the eternal benefit of others.  Wow, I can only imagine the Father’s great love for us that He would willingly “crush” His son to suffer such agony, mockery, and death for my mistakes, disobedience, and sins.  OMG!  Jesus took the greatest fall for love and life eternal.

APPLICATION:

As I read these scriptures, I feel such gratitude and love to our Father that He would commit Jesus to pain, sacrifice, and death.  It’s obvious that this was painful even for the God of the universe.  And then for Jesus to go through all that He did.  It makes the sufferings that I sometimes go through a matter of nothing; but also an answer and lesson to surrender my sufferings. I can only surmise that Jesus might not have known the whole extent and process of what He would endure, evidenced by his cry out the Lord when he was on the cross for possibly being forsaken.  Yet, His commitment to endure and not save Himself as He could have if He wanted was the fact of His understanding of what was at stake and what He had to do for us.  This gives me such hope and continuous answer to hold on to the promises of the Lord that what I surrender will be taken to the cross, and that better days will come in and through Jesus Christ.  It’s in those days that the enemy tries to steal, kill, and destroy, and I’m contemplating “tapping out,” that I will “tap in” to the hope, faith, and power of Jesus victory over sin and death.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, thank you for another life-lesson to contend with the enemy as I live in this world but not fall victim and succumb to the world and the enemy’s attempts to steal, kill, and destroy.  I have hope, power, perseverance, and victory because you took the fall for love given and the gift of life eternal.
