Stay Biblical, Stay the Course

SCRIPTURE:

As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God’s work—which is by faith.

1 Timothy 1:3-4

OBSERVATION:

These scriptures are a great reminder for me as a pastor and all believers in these current times to beware of false doctrines that are on the increase and appeal to emotion and the supernatural. By human nature, we are easy to get caught up in what touches and connects with our emotional nature and senses. The Bible is full of miracles and the supernatural. However, we are wise to be discerning in what is disseminating from Jesus through the Holy Spirit and what is of man playing to our emotions.

APPLICATION:

As we seek Jesus in prayer, healing, the miraculous, and the powerful moving of the Holy Spirit, I must always connect back to whether it is Biblical and focused on Jesus or man? Is the glory given to Jesus or man? Is it professing what Jesus did, His Word, His promises, His call and purpose; or following man, riches, wealth, and a religion?

PRAYER:

Dear Jesus, thank you that you came to give your life that we would have eternal life, and that your Word is clear on how then we shall love and live according to your Word, will, purpose, and plan. May I/we keeps our eyes on you and not get caught up in the false doctrines, false prophets/preachers/pastors, and false religions that attempt to misinform and mislead us to take our eyes off of you, and therefore follow man or falsehoods which are of the enemy.
