“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.” (Ephesians 1:13-14)
Observation
These scriptures affirm so clearly the path of our salvation. To hear the good news of Jesus Christ, which is the way to eternal salvation; requires us to believe and receive Jesus as our Savior. We are then marked with the dwelling of Holy Spirit in us, whom the Father promised would be our helper, until Jesus returns; that we would dwell with Him eternally. Thus, we were signed into a life with Christ, sealed by the promise through the Holy Spirit, and delivered into eternity upon Jesus Return. Indeed, we are His!
Application
This is such an affirmation of the good news of the promise we have has believers in Jesus Christ. These scriptures succinctly encourage me as to who I was, who I am, and where I am bound. In the meantime, I will be led by the Holy Spirit as my helper, guide, teacher, healer, encourager of my soul, with the covering by the power and the name of Jesus. It is a promise that will give me hope and peace in whatever situations I face; as I am mindful of how the story ends. We win! We live with Jesus forever.
Prayer
Thank you Jesus, for what you did on the cross, and therefore the promise of eternal salvation that I have in you. Thank you for these scriptures that succinctly keep me mindful of who you are, what you did, and therefore who I am in you, and where I’m destined. I am indeed signed, sealed, delivered ... I’m yours!
