Same Today As Yesterday

by John Tilton on January 25, 2021

Scripture

Acts 1:7-8- “He said to them: 'It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.'"

Observation

The words of the Lord at the time of Acts is still relevant and applicable to everything that we are going through today, and are called to do. As Jesus shared with the disciples in answer to their question about restoring His Kingdom, His words continue to be true that we don’t know the day of His return and Second Coming, or the Rapture. However, we do know that the Holy Spirit has been given to us as our guide, comforter, teacher; and that we are called to be a witness and testimony of Jesus until His return.

Application

Given the pandemic, politics, and times of uncertainty, although the signs of the times call us to be ready and prepared for Jesus return; our purpose is to continue to do His will in being a witness and testament to who Jesus is, and the fact that he saves us with eternal salvation. Thus, I am not to get caught up in when Jesus will return, but instead, share the good news of His impending return and that we should be about His business in living the lives He’s called us to live in obedience as a testament to Him.

Prayer

Dear Lord, your Word is the same today as yesterday. Your sacrifice on the cross 2,000 years ago set in motion the last days, and as it seems as though we are in the end times, I thank you Lord for the Holy Spirit that is my guide, my teacher, my comforter. I pray that as I am guided by you I will live out your will in obedience and that I will be a witness and testament to who you are and what we have to look forward to in your return.
