Scripture

"When you go out to war against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and an army larger than your own, you shall not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. And when you draw near to the battle, the priest shall come forward and speak to the people and shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel, today you are drawing near for battle against your enemies: let not your heart faint. Do not fear or panic or be in dread of them,  for the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.’ " (Deuteronomy 20:1-4)

Observation

Opposition can be overwhelming! Especially when the battle seems gigantic and I am sure Moses had to face down the most fierce battles of his life. God stands assure the confidence we have is to stand firm in is His presence.

Application

There’s a song by Phil Wickham called “Battle Belongs. The chorus goes  “So when I fight, I'll fight on my knees. With my hands lifted high. Oh God, the battle belongs to You. And every fear I lay at Your feet. I'll sing through the night. Oh God, the battle belongs to You!” It’s a song that rings truth into my heart when it seems the treacherous battles hits hard in my life. God reminds me I am safe and secured in His presence in the toughest of times. When I see the battles seems to difficult, God sees an opportunity to demonstrate his power. Moses does two things to encourage his army to feel safe and secured. First he reflects! He goes back into how God has already rescued them. Secondly, he reaffirms residency in Gods presence. I must continue to speak this into my life and as well the lives of others. Remembering how much God has been faithful in my life and reaffirm he is an omnipresent God!

Prayer

Lord, thank you for fighting my battles! I pray my first response will always reflect and reaffirm how safe and secured I am in your presence. God, when the battles in my life look to big for myself to fight, I surrender the battle and victory to you! Amen
