Remember

SCRIPTURE:

“Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.  Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever.  He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and compassionate.”
Psalm 111:2-4

OBSERVATION:

What God has done should not be forgotten.  He has meant for us to remember His wonderful works.

APPLICATION:

I’ve heard it said this way – We often remember the things we should forget and forget the things we should remember.  All throughout the Bible we are called to remember:

“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.” – Psalm 77:11

“I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done.” – Psalm 143:5

Years ago, I was feeling down about some things that had been going on in my life.  It seemed like there were challenges at every turn.  The Lord prompted me to begin thinking of all of the things that I was thankful for, and more importantly all that He had done in my life.

As I began this trip down memory lane an odd thing happened.  Hope began to rise and encouragement seemed to fill me as the memories came flooding back.  Remembering the works of the Lord does that.  It builds our faith muscles.

He did it before and He would do it again.

Taking time to remember all that the Lord has done in my life needs to be done regularly, and not just when the difficulties of life come.

PRAYER:

Father Almighty.  Forgive me Lord for times when I have forgotten.  Thank You Lord for what You have done, what You continue to do and what You will do in my life.  May I take the time to remember, this I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
