SCRIPTURE:
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.”
1 Corinthians 16:13
OBSERVATION:
These words were part of Paul’s final instructions, as he prepared them for the future, and to expect the unforeseen and unexpected; but to be encouraged to stand firm in their faith in God able, and therefore have courage, strength, but balanced with love, which is the heart of Jesus.
APPLICATION:
As we prepare for Easter, history tells us that given such a major event with so many components, so many things to do, and so many pastors, staff, and volunteers planning and preparing. It never fails that the enemy will attack pastors, people, and situations to try and “steal, kill, and destroy” our plans, efforts and heart to prepare for Easter. It often tests our character, our relationships, and patience. It requires steadfastness, grace, and love, not to respond in a bad way or even want to give up. Most of all, it requires us to keep our eyes focused on Jesus, and be consistent in studying His Word, and founded with prayer. This is a great reminder for me to be on guard, firm in my faith, courageous and strong in the honor to present Easter.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, I pray for your covering and intercession for our Easter event, including preparation and arrangements. I also pray that you will prepare my heart and character from this moment forward into Easter, and also beyond Easter, to stand on guard, firm in faith, with courage and strength through your Word to heed the call on my life. May I continue to be ready, willing, and able through you in me.
