Ready to Say “I Do”

by John Tilton on September 01, 2025

SCRIPTURE:

“Then I heard what sound like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting ‘Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.  Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!  For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.  Fine Linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.’  Then the angel said to me, ‘Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’ And he added, ‘These are the true words of God.’”
Revelation 19:6-9

OBSERVATION:

As we find ourselves in rapidly changing and uncertain times; Revelation and these scriptures provide us not only with history, but prophecy of what is to come as a means of giving hope and encouragement to us all as believers.  We know through God’s word that the “Last Days” commenced when Jesus was crucified on the cross in redemption.  Furthermore, the scriptures describe the “End Times” as what we ascertain are the current times within the Last Days; a precursor to Jesus’ return and the wedding supper of the lamb that awaits those invited.  Invitation will solely be by knowing Jesus Christ as Savior.

Further study reveals that the “fine linen, bright and clean” stand for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.  With this in mind, we are indeed called to anticipate with joy what is to come, despite what we are enduring currently, and that even in the midst of these tumultuous times or situations, that we are called to serve others as kind acts of fine linen, bright and clean.  Our obedience and acts will be our adornments for the wedding supper.

APPLICATION:

Thus, it is so important that we are ready and prepared.  How?  That I 1) Know Jesus Christ as Lord & Savior.  That I will continue to 2) study and know the Word of God. 3) Commune with Jesus with a dedicated prayer life.  And 4) Follow in obedience to God’s will and way.

I am so ready to say, “I Do!”  Waiting patiently at your altar Jesus!

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, thank you for reminding me amid life in this world, as I act not be of this world and await the great wedding supper with Your return.  Thank you for the reminder that my/our resolve in the meantime is to know you, love You with all of our hearts, draw close to You through Your Word and prayer, and to continue to love others in acts of kindness that they would come to know you.  I pray for your continued guidance and covering on me as I do my part in planning and preparing for the great Wedding Supper.
