SCRIPTURE:
“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.”
Revelation 22:12, 14
OBSERVATION:
We are at the precipice of a new calendar year where resolutions are being recorded and what truly matters in life is being reassessed. I can think of no better time to be wrapping up the book of Revelation and remembering…remembering God’s victory over evil, remembering that His second coming is imminent, remembering that darkness will be conquered, and remembering His deep love for us. In light of these truths, He says “behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.” His return is guaranteed, and today’s message comes with an urgency to be alert, to be ready, and to be about His business.
APPLICATION:
I don’t know when He will return, but I do know He says:
- Be ready because “I am coming soon!”
- Be active because, you’re not saved by your works but, your works reveal your faith, surrender, and understanding of God.
- Be obedient and you will be “blessed”.
I know my life would look drastically different if I lived as though He was returning tomorrow. How I spend my time, who I hang out with, and what I hold on to would all change due to my change in mindset. So today as I’m reminded that this urgency should be my daily, I choose to seize every moment for Him.
PRAYER:
Jesus, You are worthy to be praised because You are the Risen Messiah. I rejoice in the fact that You will come again, and I heed Your warning that You will be coming soon. May I live today, and each day, with that mindset that I might seize every moment for Your glory, being ready, active, and obedient. In Your name, Amen.
