PUSH - Pray Until Something Happens

by John Tilton on October 05, 2026

SCRIPTURE:

“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: ‘In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea,’ ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

For some time he refused. But finally, he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”

Luke 18:1-5

OBSERVATION:

Persistence for the widow paid off. She became the resounding knock, the persistent itch, the relentless pursuit. Thus, as the word depicts, the judge gave in and gave her into request. It wasn’t peer pressure or even his lack of relationship with God, but instead her persistence.

APPLICATION:

So to with our request onto the Lord in prayer. I love the acronym to P.U.S.H. - pray until something happens. It is about persistence and continuing to pray in belief and faith, sharing with the Lord that I realize it is in His time and for His purpose and plan, and that the continuance in prayer represents my faith that I would pray without ceasing as the Word says.

I am currently in this place as I pray for God’s provision and faithfulness to provide for His church in these current tough economic times. He’s been faithful and provisional in the past and He will do so again. These scriptures is God’s providence and timing to remind me of His faithfulness as I/we surrender His church to Him in faith for His provision and blessings as we continue His calling, assignment, plan, and purpose.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, thank you for the reminder of your faithfulness in the past as an affirmation of your promises for the future. I pray and PUSH for your provision in resources and finances for our church in these challenging economic times that our people are encountering. Lord, may you provide for your people and in turn that they would give to your church for your purpose and plan to continue in fruitful ways.
