Today's Reading:
Hebrews 5,6,7,8
Scripture
“People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.“ (Hebrews 6:16-17)
Observation
God's promise is the hope anchored in His faithfulness! God is a promises keeper. He gives on to us according to His will and knows the timing of his blessing. The world is full of empty promises and broken records of an oath that it bribes us to demand God to come through. God desire to love his sons and daughters in a way that will build, grows, and encourages. The promises of God never change and he never lies. We don’t need to flee to promises of the world that leave us temporarily unsatisfied but God leaves his promise of hope worth pursuing his faithfulness.
Application
Making promises to others can be a set up to fail others or people failing you! I have been there where promises weren’t followed through and I have been there where I have broken promises. What is reassuring of God's promises is trusting it’s coming but not always in a way I desire.
Let be real that I’m still waiting on my husband to come along but just because that hasn’t come on my timing doesn’t mean God promises is a lie but I trust it is on its way. The value I find in God's promise is that I’m never left hopeless but always hopeful because God is faithful and true to what He speaks.
I am learning a lot about my own strength and weakness that may be in the waiting of a promise to come to pass God is building me up so the blessing is appreciated. God is a promise keeper. When the enemy speaks the opposite of what God says, I need anchor again and again that God doesn’t lie and never changes His promises.
Prayer
Lord, I thank you for the strength of your faithfulness. I pray Father God in this time of waiting that I hold onto the promise of who you are and anchor my faith in the hope that set before me. I trust you, leaning on you, and believe you are a God who keeps his promise amen.
