Open Hearts Leads To Miracles

by Pua Palakiko on February 27, 2021

Scripture

Mark 6:3-6-“'Is this not the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are His sisters not here with us?' And they took offense at Him. Jesus said to them, 'A prophet is not dishonored except in his hometown and among his own relatives, and in his own household.' And He could not do any miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He was amazed at their unbelief. And He was going around the villages, teaching."

Observation

I am sure Jesus felt a little hurt to be rejected from his hometown. The people's hearts were hardened and took offense therefore Jesus could do no miracle. Yet he went to a few whose hearts were responsive to his message.

Application

It always strikes the heart when things hit home. I know I had many times where I am rejected as a Christian or even rejected as a pastor. It seems people try really hard to cancel Jesus because sin runs rapidly in our culture that His name alone is a threat.

I know I had some hard and lonely seasons because not many want to be around me due to the reputation I have. Yet I am encouraged to know that Jesus understands the feeling of not being wanted. The miracles Jesus wanted to do were for the hearts who were willing to receive His message. I believe that the more I continue to be confident in the Lord and be a preacher of his word, many might not want to hear what I have to say, but it should never stop me to keep praying for the hardened hearts to be open.

Prayer

Dear Jesus,

Thank you that you are someone who I can lean on when times I might not always be accepted. I pray I continue to have the heart you have to keep going forth and walk out the Will that God set on my life.
