Oh the Glory of Christ

by John Tilton on September 19, 2022

Scripture

Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace.  For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.” (Luke 2:29-32)

Observation

As Simeon saw and realized what the Lord God promised him prior, that He would indeed see the Christ before his death, he proclaimed his fulfillment and being ready to be taken.  All the prophecy bestowed upon Simeon would now take place as the Lord planned and willed.

Application

Simeon’s faith and relationship with the Lord was so evident.  To know that His only desire before being taken home was to see the Lord and to revel in God’s purpose and plan.  What a blessing in the midst of these current trying times, to know that Jesus is our Savior and that God’s promises are true and rock solid like Jesus.  It encourages me to stand in faith on God’s truth and promises as I navigate the good and the bad, the highs and the lows of life as we all await Jesus’ return and the rapture to come.  As Simeon held on to the promise of seeing the Christ, so to do I hold on to Jesus’ promise of His return.

It’s that promises that give me perseverance.

Prayer

Dear Lord, you are so faithful and your promises are true.  May I keep your promises in my heart each and every day, that my heart would be positioned to live and act according to your Word, your will, and your ways, until you return.
