My Children Is My Ministry

Today's Reading:
Genesis 18, 19; Psalms 3; Luke 7

Scripture

"For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.” (Genesis 18:19)

Observation

The Lord would give Abraham information and revelation based upon what he would communicate with his family. The Bible says, “I will give Abraham an understanding of what I’m about to do because I know he is a man who will teach his children.” That’s awesome!

Yet, the same is true for me today. The revelation God wants me to give concerning what He’s doing, how He’s moving, where He’s going is based not upon my journal entries or my Bible Study notes. It’s based upon whether or not I will share what He tells me with my children.

People often say to me, “If I could go back and do it all over again, I would not go into the profession I’m in presently. I would go into the ministry.” And I understand that, for I have found the ministry to be absolutely delightful. It’s a fabulous calling.

Application

But, here’s the fact: I have children and grandchildren, and they are my ministry. There is no other job or employment that compares to gathering my family around my wife and I and giving a simple Bible lesson, sharing with each other, and praying together.

That is my ministry. And anyone who takes seriously their call, like Abraham, receives fresh revelation. I know this to be true, because the most wonderful insights and sweetest revelations of God to my heart have not come as I have prepared sermons, but as I have simply shared in worship with my family.

Prayer

Lord, I pray that You would always give me fresh bread to share with my family and the church. I pray to the Lord that I can be a conduit to everyone that comes around me and that I can share the Good News for the day. In Jesus Name I Pray these things. Amen.
