SCRIPTURE:
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
Psalm 121:1–2
OBSERVATION:
Psalm 121 is a reminder that true help comes from God alone. The psalmist lifts his eyes upward, recognizing that human strength and earthly solutions are limited, but God never sleeps, never fails, and never stops watching over His people.
In Mark 9–10, the disciples struggled with fear, pride, misunderstanding, and impossible situations. Yet over and over, Jesus redirected their focus back to faith, humility, and dependence on God.
One of the strongest lines comes in Mark 10:27:
“With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
Both passages call us to shift our focus upward instead of inward.
APPLICATION:
When life feels overwhelming, my natural tendency is often to look at the problem repeatedly instead of looking to God.
I replay circumstances.
I calculate outcomes.
I focus on limitations.
But Psalm 121 reminds me to lift my eyes higher.
My help does not come from my own ability to control everything. It comes from the Lord.
God is not intimidated by impossible situations, exhausting seasons, or uncertain futures.
And sometimes peace begins the moment I stop staring only at the mountain and start remembering who created the mountain.
PRAYER:
Lord, help me lift my eyes toward You instead of becoming consumed by fear, pressure, or circumstances. Thank You that You are my constant help and faithful keeper. Strengthen my faith to trust You with the things that feel impossible to me. Remind me that You are greater than every obstacle I face. In Jesus’ name, amen.
