Keep On Truck'n

Scripture

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:14-15)

Observation

I love Paul’s encouragement to Timothy, acknowledging earlier in the chapter of the carnal and sinful nature of man; but that the difference is what one has learned from the Word, and how that is manifested through faith in Jesus Christ, TO KEEP ON TRUCK’N.  The opposite of conviction is doubt, and it is doubt that will often stop us from moving forward and continuing to pursue assignments, our call, our visions, and dreams.  However, God’s word is so clear that if we remember what we’ve learned from God’s word and life-lessons; we can stand on His promises of His word with conviction.  It is with conviction, that we can “keep on truck’n” as the saying goes.  One of the things about a truck compared to a car or other vehicles is that it’s sheer weight as it moves, keeps its momentum moving in a powerful way.  Thus, too, it’s the weight of God’s word within us that will keep our momentum moving forward if we are mindful of that fact.

Application

I’ve found that my doubt often comes from over-thinking and analyzing, rather than seeking the Lord and listening to the Holy Spirit speak to me or guide me.  If I take the time and intention to wait and listen to hear from the Lord, He is faithful.  I will sense inklings or promptings, and when I’ve followed those inklings and promptings, I’ve seen the miraculous and faithfulness of God.  Thus, I know that I can cross the bridge or bumps of doubt, by turning to the Lord in faith and standing on His word.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for reminding me of the hope, confidence, conviction, that I have in you through your word, prayer, and seeking you.  I pray that I will continue to stand on what I know in your word and the life-lessons you’ve taught me, to keep on truck’n in Christ to all that you’ve called me to.  And as your word states, it is with your wisdom that your will speak to me to keep me moving forward in your momentum and power.
