SCRIPTURE:
'As for you, people of Israel, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Go and serve your idols, every one of you! But afterward you will surely listen to me and no longer profane my holy name with your gifts and idols.
Ezekiel 20:39
OBSERVATION:
God allows us to make our own decisions, bad or good. Therefore, He desires that we recognize that He is the way, truth, and life. He wants us to decide for ourselves who we will serve. Joshua speaks to this when he states, "But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve...” (Joshua 24:15a).
We can reason from history that God's way is best. His way leads to blessing in this life and into the next. His way blesses a generation, exalts a nation, leads to life, gifts peace, gives purpose... etc. His way is best; therefore, belief in Him is the best way.
APPLICATION:
This is both astonishing and obvious. If we follow the author of life, it will lead to a blessed life in the context of eternity. This doesn't mean it will be all smooth sailing. However, it will mean that, in the context of God's grand design, storms are for you and not against you.
Yes, there will be moments of happiness; however, when the moments of pain come, it will be for our completion, our joy, our future glory, and His ultimate glory. When we trust Him, there is peace in the storm, because we know it will be used for good. Therefore, I will just trust Him.
PRAYER:
Lord, would you please help me to trust Your character in the mess, because You are the God who makes masterpieces. Thank you for taking my broken pieces and putting me back together as I should be. Amen.
