But before very long there rushed down from the land a violent wind, called Euraquilo; and when the ship was caught in it and could not face the wind, we gave way to it and let ourselves be driven along. Acts 27:14
An early song of Award Winning Artist Carry Underwood was ‘Jesus Take The Wheel’. The song depicts a mom driving at night with a baby in the backseat when the car begins to spin out of control. After failing to stop the spin, she throws her hands up and says, ‘Jesus Take The Wheel’. Has your life ever round ground like a ship or spun out of control like a car? When the ship carrying Paul to Rome could not be brought under control, it chose to stop fighting the storm and lowered it’s sails and let the rudder decide on its own where to go. But for the Christian, you are precious cargo so when you let go and let God, Jesus takes the wheel. Required is an intentional ‘giving to God’ in surrendering your way so God can steer you His way. You don’t have to be in sin to needs God’s intervention. The crisis’s of life creep up regularly at work, with kids, with finances, in relationships, and so forth. You can choose to wait until life is spinning out of control or make a conscious choice to surrender daily so God can steer your ship. The moment you ask Jesus to take the wheel, the Holy Spirit begins to captain your ship and steer you through the wind and waves to calmer waters where you can hear Him more clearly. For myself, I ask the Holy Spirit questions everyday to involved him in all I do. I find that it is better to follow him into my future than my own way, it creates less self-inflicted wounds. I know He will have insights into the situations I face in every aspect of life.

- What areas of life would you like God’s help in today?
- What questions could you write out for the Holy Spirit to answer?
- Would you be willing to pray a prayer of ‘release’ each day so God takes over the steering your rudder?
Principle: You or God can captain your ship, but only one of you knows where the wind and waves will take you.
