SCRIPTURE:
2 Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord and I will not let Israel go.”
Exodus 5:2
OBSERVATION:
Pharaoh had no idea that he was talking about the King of all kings and the Lord of all lords. In the beginning, he had no idea of the nature of the foreign god. The Egyptians were familiar with worshipping deities because they were polytheistic. However, he didn’t know that he was coming against the will of the great I Am.
Moses, right before this, said, “I am slow of speech and tongue.” God just said to Moses, 'I AM WHO I AM. I always wondered why God calls Himself "I Am." While Moses was complaining to God about what he couldn’t do, God displayed that He could do all things. I believe God said to show them who He is through His power and grace. For instance, God conquers the Egyptian Sun god, Ra, by turning the sky dark for three days for the tenth plague.
That same God died for you and me. He is greater than any god or idol we have in our life; however, in His greatness he laid down His life so that He may conquer death itself. Death, where is your sting?
APPLICATION:
The great “I Am” is with me now. He is above all things. He is supreme. However, that same God made himself of no reputation and died a gruesome death on the cross. I know that God is all in all. He became the lamb that was slain to save the people of God.
Therefore, I will surrender. I will bow down. I will give my all to the great I Am that took the sins of the world on His shoulders. There is no one greater than He. This means that what He says is possible.
If I am with God, then “who can stand against me?” I will go where He sends, even if I had a speech impediment, a checkered past, was last picked, short, tall, smart, or slow. He is the X factor. He is the great I Am. Where He leads, I follow. I am because He is!
PRAYER:
Lord, You are great beyond measure. You are the matchless God. There is no one like You. Would You allow me to bask in Your wonder. Amen.
