Scripture
Luke 21:5-6
5 Some of his disciples were remarking about how the temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said, 6 “As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down.”
Observation
A wise man once said, “Everything that can be shaken will be shaken.” The Jews at this time put their trust in the temple. It was their image of status to the world. It was what set them apart. However, Jesus Christ said, “The time will come when not one stone will be left.” Where will they run to when their identity and solid rock are destroyed?
Jesus has the answer, namely himself. “But the hour cometh and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeketh such to worship Him.” (John 4:23). Therefore, our solid foundation is not a place, but a person. What can be shaken will be shaken. When we build our lives on the unshakable God, persecution, suffering, and yes, even death will be used for our good. We are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus.
Application
Therefore, I will not get comfortable with buildings, or positions, or the pleasures of this world. It’s fine to have nice things; however, it’s not fine to become dull to the eternal things because of them. It’s so easy to get deceived and believe that it will remain business as usual. Who thought December 8th, 1941 would eventually come? The date America entered World War II. Things come to an end, and new things begin.
The Kingdom of God that can't be shaken is coming, and every knee shall bow. Are my knees ready? Is my life ready? Am I running the race? I want to be found doing the right thing when my master comes back. Not just living safe and looking forward to retirement. I am called to be a “problem” for the enemy. The enemy should pray every day that I don’t wake up, because I am untethered from the world and building His eternal Kingdom.
Prayer
Lord, would you guide me to be a problem for the kingdom of darkness. Amen.
