SCRIPTURE:
"’Go to this people and say, You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.’ For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.”
Acts 28:26-27
OBSERVATION:
The scene in Rome is much of what it is like these days where many are interested; most hear and see, but few truly hear with understanding and see with perception. It is often that the failure to truly hear, see, understand and perceive keep us from breakthrough, resolution and victory. Why? Perhaps it is being set in our beliefs and ways, or lacking faith in things that we cannot clearly understand in full.
APPLICATION:
Being that I am in a place of leadership and authority where I am called to make decisions or pass judgment. It is so important that I am discerning in my beliefs or things of the past that might prevent me from making wise decisions in leadership. I do need to remember to step back as needed and not be so impulsive, but to have patience so that I can hear, see, and understand God’s will by prayer and His Word that can often insights and answers. Studying the Word can and will reveal key insights and grow my heart to hear from the Lord, as to His will and my actions. When I just read through the Word, it feels like I am hearing the Word. However, my experience is that when I study God’s Word, I gain understanding. It’s in my prayer time with specifics where I receive promptings and thoughts from the Lord.
PRAYER:
Lord, please guide me not to be so impulsive and too quick to action, but to know that you are my source and therefore that I would have the diligence to seek answer and your will through your Word and prayer.
