He Will Do It Again

SCRIPTURE:

"He said to the Israelites, “In the future when your descendants ask their parents, ‘What do these stones mean?’ tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’  For the Lord your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over.  The Lord your God did to the Jordan what he had done to the Red Sea when he dried it up before us until we had crossed over.  He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God.”
Joshua 4:21-24

OBSERVATION:

The stones were meant to be a physical representation of what the Lord had done. When descendants asked their parents about the stones, they would be reminded of the goodness and greatness of God, of the miracles that He had performed.

APPLICATION:

We have a tendency of remembering the negative things that have happened.  Yet we see the Lord asking the opposite of us – that we recall the miracles and the positive things that He has done.  This is especially important when we are faced with uphill battles in our lives, as remembering what the Lord has done can galvanize our faith.

While we may not set up memorial stones any longer, one of the best ways we can remember His miracles is through worship.  When faced with difficult times one of the best things we do is turn on worship music.

One of my personal favorites is “Do It Again” where some of the lyrics read:

I’ve seen You move, You move the mountains
And I believe I’ll see You do it again
You made a way, where there was no way
And I believe I’ll see You do it again

As the challenges and battles come, what I’ll need to do is remember what the Lord has already done in my life, and one of the best ways that I can do that is through worship.

PRAYER:

Father Almighty.  Forgive me Lord for remembering the things I should forget, and for forgetting what You call me to remember.  Thank You Lord for worship that can help me to remember the miracles you’ve already done in my life.  You’ve always made a way where there was no way, may I always believe that You’ll do it again and again, this I pray, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
