Today's Reading:
Revelation 15,16,17,18
Scripture
“These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them because He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful.” (Revelation 17:14)
Observation
With all of the doom, destruction, judgment, and hardship, Revelation can be very difficult to read, and if we were honest, most of us just avoid it altogether. Now, I’ll be the first to admit that I’d much rather read Psalms or Proverbs with their nuggets of wisdom and encouragement, but if we skip Revelation we miss out on amazing verses like this one. Evil nations, evil forces, and the evil antichrist have allied to wage war against the Lamb. To the naked eye, it would appear that the Lamb is outmanned, outgunned, and out of luck, but even with every evil force against Him, “the Lamb will overcome them because He is Lord of lords and King of kings…”! HE is not only greater than I…HE is greater than all! The power that our God holds is not only incomprehensible but it is undefeatable. No power, no situation, no amount of evil is any match for the power of the Lamb. And the Good News continues: “…and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful…” This promise covers us! We aren’t worthy, we don’t deserve it, we have no chance on our own, yet because of His love we are called, we are chosen, and we are commissioned to be faithful which guarantees our victory in Him.
Application
We win because of Him! In fact, we don’t just win in the end…we win in the now. It doesn’t matter what situation you’re facing He is greater! It doesn’t matter how scary things seem He is greater. It doesn’t matter if the odds are stacked against you and your eyes see no hope in sight He is still greater. Imagine how different our lives would look if we really grasped this reality and lived it out. There is no need to fear, no need for anxiety, and no need to worry! The Lamb of God overcomes all, and because of His grace, we can live in His victory! But there’s one condition that we have to remember, one thing that can keep us from this promise, one person that can inhibit us from living in His fullness…and that’s us. We need to choose to submit to His authority, we need to obey His commands, we need to live our lives for Him and not ourselves, and we need to have faith. Today I will choose to trust and surrender that I might know the victory of the Lamb.
Prayer
Jesus, I celebrate You the King of kings and Lord of lords! You are greater than all and are worthy of all honor. Forgive me for not living daily life in this reality. Forgive me for when I fear or try to do things on my own. Thank You for allowing me to live in Your victory. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
