God Goes Before Us

by Pua Palakiko on March 28, 2026

SCRIPTURE:

Then Deborah said to Barak, ‘Go! This is the day the Lord has given Sisera into your hands. Has not the Lord gone ahead of you?’ So Barak went down Mount Tabor, with ten thousand men following him.

Judges 4:14

OBSERVATION:

This verse highlights God’s sovereignty and His role in leading His people to victory. Deborah, a prophet and judge, assured Barak that God had already gone before them into battle. Despite any fear or uncertainty, Barak was called to trust in God’s plan and step forward in faith. The victory was not dependent on human strength alone but on God’s divine guidance.

APPLICATION:

There are times when I hesitate because I’m unsure if I’m being heard or if what I say even matters. The fear of making mistakes can hold me back, making me second-guess myself. At times, pleasing people becomes my kryptonite, I want to do well, to be accepted, and not to disappoint others. But in trying to meet everyone’s expectations, I can forget that my true calling is to follow God’s leading, not people’s approval.
I know there is so much inside of me; gifts, ideas, and a deep desire to do more for God. Yet, hesitation creeps in when I doubt whether I’m capable or if I’ll fail. Judges 4:14 reminds me that God has already gone before me. My job is not to have everything figured out but to trust Him and take the next step in faith.
Today, I choose to let go of the fear of not being enough. I will walk in confidence, knowing that God is guiding me, even in my uncertainties. I will speak, lead, and serve boldly, trusting that God will use me despite my weaknesses. My worth is not found in the approval of people but in the purpose God has placed within me.

PRAYER:

Lord, thank You for always going before me. Help me to trust in Your plan, even when I feel uncertain. Give me the courage to step forward in faith, knowing that You are leading the way. Let me rely on Your strength and not my own. In Jesus’ name, Amen
