Godʻs Example for His Glory

by John Tilton on December 02, 2024

SCRIPTURE:

“What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath—prepared for destruction?  What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory — even us, whom he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?”
Romans 9:22-24

OBSERVATION:

It is such an epiphany to realize that much of what we go through in life by our choice is a redeeming opportunity for God to example His glory in us and make his power known.  Thus, we are given the freedom of choice and subsequently often make the wrong decisions and choices.  However, to know that God in spite of our choices, will then example us to be His object of mercy to make His goodness known.  One would think that we should have to reap what we sow; but to know that God loves us so much that He instead, chose to show us mercy 70 times 7 as an example to others of His love. It shows His providential glory and supreme power over all the earth.

APPLICATION:

So what is my part?  I realize that I am a sinner and that I struggle with certain sin and stronghold’s in my life, as well as make choices that are not of God’s will.  I am so encouraged by His word to turn to the Lord Jesus Christ when I make the wrong choices and sin; and to persevere in challenging situations so that the solution, resolution, or even my growth through dire consequences will be an example to His glory and power.  It would be easy to celebrate His glory when goodness results.  But how about when the result is not what I hope for?  It is then that my resolve, faith in His will, and faith in Him, that I will stay the course.  Whatever the outcome, I will be blessed or I will grow through the lessons I learn; either way, an example of Godʻs glory in my life.  It is simply amazing to know that I am a living and walking example of His glory.

PRAYER:

Lord, I thank you for giving me insight and encouraging me to realize and know that I am subject to your love and mercy; and that you often choose to reveal your power and glory through me.  I pray that you will allow me to continue to know your will, and that I will abide by your will.  However, when I do make the wrong choices, I pray that I will immediately turn to you in repentance; and guided by you, walk and live through with perseverance whatever I have to, in order to example your love, grace, mercy and power.  May all glory and honor be to you as I choose to live and walk in your glory.
