SCRIPTURE:
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”
2 Timothy 1:7
OBSERVATION:
When you woke up this morning how’d you feel? Were you were fired up and ready to conquer the day ahead? I’m guessing for most of us the day didn’t start up with this type of “warrior” mindset. I’m guessing for most of us we woke up with a list of concerns and issues on our mind, with many feeling burdensome and overwhelming. I’m guessing most of us woke up feeling tired, weak, and wishing we could just pull the covers over our head and stay in bed. But, today Paul speaks Truth to our souls and courage to our spirits. Today in 2 Timothy Paul tells us, “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” If you feel weak Paul reminds you that God’s Spirit offers you His power to walk in. Supernatural power to face every concern, supernatural power to defeat every doubt, supernatural power to overcome every temptation, and supernatural power to walk in a way that honors Him is available to you! If you feel empty Paul reminds you that God’s Spirit offers you His love that brings forgiveness, His love that brings healing, and His love that brings you brand new purpose. And, if that wasn’t enough, His Spirit gives you self discipline and a sound mind empowering you to be able to walk in purity, faith and obedience.
APPLICATION:
God’s Spirit offers you everything you need to live this day in His victory and for His glory. You don’t have to worry or be afraid because His Spirit is with you, and all it takes is asking, submitting, and walking in it. Today, may we find victory over sin as we walk in the self discipline He gives, today may we find wisdom and love to shepherd our families, and today may we find power to accomplish everything He asks.
PRAYER:
Jesus, I rejoice! I rejoice that I don’t have to fear because Your Spirit is with me. I rejoice that I don’t have to muster up my own strength and courage because Your Spirit empowers me. I rejoice that victory over sin and every issue that’s before me comes by Your hand, Your way, and in Your timing. Please help me to surrender, please help me to trust, and please help me to live today in Your Spirit. May You be honored through my thoughts, actions, and choices. In Your name, Amen.
