Failure is not a death sentence

SCRIPTURE:

“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’” Mark 16:6-7

OBSERVATION:

The angel tells the women good news of the resurrection of Jesus and gives them direction to go tell the disciples and especially Peter! This scene makes you feel the tension in the room, as the focus turns to Peter. Most time, the sweetest sound to a person ear is their own name, but knowing Peter name is specifically mention, we think he is in deep Kimchi. (and I love Kimchi btw) The last time Jesus saw Peter was when he refused to be acquainted with the Messiah. Peter had to feel discouraged and depressed to what had occurred. But if we fast forward the story, we see Jesus reminding Peter again who he is. Jesus doesn’t come disown Peter but restores Peter. Jesus intentionally wants Peter to tell him God is not done with you yet!

APPLICATION:

I like to say how many times I have Peter moments where I messed up and felt like a failure. Only to find that Jesus comes to my rescue to remind me again, my mistakes and failures doesn’t define me. It also makes me wonder how many Peter’s are surrounding me that are in need to be reminded that God is not done with them yet! The crushed, the forgotten, the hurt and the disowned. My own mistake gives me compassion and the ability to look for the Peter’s who made mistakes, or feel as if they failed. In this season, I want to be intentional to search for those who are feeling lost and frail in their calling, remind them again that Jesus restores, He redeems and reassures that He has great plans for them. Instead, of seeing too many people calling it quits and forfeiting their call because of a mistake. I want be use ever more speak life to those who have thrown in the towel! Failure is not a death sentence, but a room for Jesus to restore!

If you are reading this, God is not done with you yet!

PRAYER:

Lord, rest in my heart, Lord, those who may have forgotten who they are. Would you lord encourage the broken hearts and restore those who feel as if you will not use them ever again. Lord, we know the enemy is attacking dreams, goals, ministries, families, and callings! Jesus use me as a mighty vessel to restore those who feel that they can’t go on any more. I thank you that you are truthful and just, yet gentle and kind! God, thank you for the times you had restored me! May I pour water into the hearts of others, allowing them to stand up again and dream again!

Amen
