Empowered By The Holy Spirit

by Richard Waialeale on January 28, 2021

Scripture

Acts 2:4,14- “And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability."

"Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd…"

Observation

Peter, the giant of a fisherman who had cowered before a servant girl who identified him as one of the Lord’s followers.  Peter, who fell asleep when he should have been praying. Peter, who spoke the name of Jesus with great power and authority and without fear now towers above the crowd. Why? One reason: He was empowered with the Spirit. The apostle Peter may be one of the greatest turnaround leaders in the New Testament. After the powerful touch, he had received from the Holy Spirit of God - he felt compelled to preach. Whenever someone is filled with the Holy Spirit, something happens.  Empowered leaders express God’s power, then empower others.

Application

Whenever I speak on the pulpit or any place else for that matter. I must always pray that the Holy Spirit empowers me during these moments. Without the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, we are just normal men and women talking story. But, with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, something happens and empowered leaders express God’s power and then empowers others around them. That’s what I want is to be empowered so I can empower others as they hear the Word of the Lord fall upon them.

Prayer

LORD use me for Your glory and for me to glorify You. These are difficult times we’re living in but these are also special times of hearing Your Word and being empowered by Your Spirit so we can be that shining light in these dark times. Lord use me to give hope to those who are lost and searching. Amen.
