SCRIPTURE:
Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe.
Jude 1:5
OBSERVATION:
Wow! This is a wake-up call. This sounds like a book from the Old Testament; however, it isn’t. God can save us from Egypt; however, will we turn and believe? Some can say “yes” to the Lord, but will they continue in belief? We see this with the Israelites. Leaving slavery was just the beginning of the journey to the promised land. Their unbelief was evident in their actions as they faced each trial. The wilderness was the revealer of their faith or their lack thereof. The Israelites’ lack of faith was revealed when they didn’t want to enter the promised land, because the giants in the land. They trust in their wisdom than in the command of God. Our journey may start with a raised hand, but it must continue with a changed life.
APPLICATION:
Believing in Jesus doesn’t end with a raised hand; it starts there. Just like the Israelites leaving Egypt, that was only the start of the journey. The trials that I face along the way are revealing and refining my faith. James 1:2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” As Christians, we go through the process of sanctification, being made more and more into His image. I’m called to leave Egypt, but the wilderness helps Egypt leave me!
PRAYER:
Lord, would you guide me to finish the race and leave Egypt to enter the promised land? Amen.
