SCRIPTURE:
“Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, the living Stone - rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him - you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”
2 Peter 1:1-5
OBSERVATION:
Peter is speaking to the people in the various provinces of what God is calling them to in terms of a pure heart and example of Christ that will at times be rejected by men, but chosen by God to be a living testament acceptable and pleasing to Him. I love how he shares the challenges of our carnal ways and immediately gives the solution of craving and seeking the true spiritual milk of the Lord, that will grow our faith and character; resulting in a living stone that perhaps not acceptable to man, is wholely acceptable to Christ.
APPLICATION:
How often I am affected and influenced by the world and the things of the world that creep into my life such as responsibilities, stress, and pride, of what is expected of me, what is upon me, or what I want and am seeking. Yes, it gets back to the basics that if we feed ourselves daily on His word, which is the pure spiritual milk; we will then grow to be precious living stones to our Lord with a contagious glow that others will see and notice. It will come from Jesus within us. Thus, no matter the circumstances, I have a choice to look at things negatively through the lens of the world, or positively through the Word and will of the Lord. It’s my choice and perspective that will result in the glow from my heart through my words and actions as I choose good and not malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy or slander. Basically, seek good, it is good that I will find. Whatever I choose, I will find it. Thus, seek good, seek Jesus.
PRAYER:
Lord, thank you for your daily reminders that it is my attitude and my choice for my life whether I will glow in you or be a dim light of gloom. Please help me to glow rather then be and live in a gloomy perspective and attitude. May I have your light within me through you Word and prayer, that I will shine your light, a light aglow.
